ACA Request for Canadian Championships Volunteers

The following message was received from Alpine Canada with a request to post it for all members' awareness.

The GMC Canadian Championships is the show case event for Junior and Senior level athletes from across Canada. The participants compete, not only against their peers, but also against members of the Canadian Alpine Ski Team (CAST). The GMC Canadian Championship event is made up of competitions from all five alpine disciplines (DH, SG, GS, SC and SL) and a Provincial Dual Race.

In 2010 the GMC Canadian Championships will be held at the beautiful Nakiska Ski resort in Kananaskis country, Alberta. Alpine Canada Alpin and the Nakiska Ski Resort will host the best Canadian Alpine athletes in all alpine disciplines (DH, SG, GS, SL, and SC). The organizing committee is working toward building a team of volunteers to execute top level events for our Canadian athletes. If you are interested in volunteering for this great event please sign up by visiting www.canski.org and our volunteer sign-up page at http://canski.org/canadian-alpine-races.

We look forward to seeing you on the slopes.

Para-Alpine Program Addition to Alpine Saskatchewan

Based on discussions through the summer, the organizations of Alpine Saskatchewan, Saskatchewan Skiing for Disabled, and Regina Ski Club Adaptive Ski Program will be expanding the para-alpine initiatives in Saskatchewan. This will include supporting the introduction of para-alpine athletes into Sask Alpine's Sask Cup races, and to support programs to establish a para-alpine team to represent Saskatchewan at the 2011 Canada Winter Games. Para-alpine club-level instruction and training programs will also be addressed.

To help provide a communication centre for this para-alpine initiative, a page has been created on the Sask Alpine web site where more information about the sport and programs can be found. This page will be revised as the program evolves and matures and will become a community hotspot for anyone interested in this sport in Saskatchewan. The 'Para-Alpine' page is under the 'Programs' menu at the top of every page on the Sask Alpine web site (www.saskalpine.com). Click on the 'read more' link below to be taken directly to that page.

In addition, a discussion forum has been placed on the same web site page. This forum is like a 'bulletin board' and will be used to publish and broadcast (via email) future information updates on this initiative. It can also be used to have people post and respond to questions.
