Alpine Skiing at the Saskatchewan Winter Games

 Alpine skiing will return for the upcoming 2010 Saskatchewan Winter Games hosted in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Although the athlete's village and the majority of the sports will be located in and around Moose Jaw, the closest alpine ski venue will be at Mission Ridge located near Fort Qu'Appelle - which is an hour and a half drive from Moose Jaw travelling East and then North.

When viewing the 2010 Sask Winter Games web site, specifically the Registration page, it lists on the Volunteer drop down box the following - "volunteer, media, V.I.P, Coach or Official". For official, does this mean a games organizing official or an event judging official such as gate judge, starter, finish referee, etc for skiing events. If the latter, that would be an extra step above our normal method of recruiting race judges and we would need to start working on it soon.

You're right, the Sask Games web site at http://saskgames.ca/dyna/athletes.php is the starting point for registration of those five categories; volunteer, media, VIP, Coach or official.
The VIP category is by invite - so that doesn't apply for this situation. Media is obvious and also not relevant.
For Coach, this will be the district coach selected for our sport. As these are decided together with the Alpine sport district contact, the coach can register with this category.
The Official category is for those people filling the role for the event as 'major officials'. For Alpine, that would be Technical Delegate, Chief of Race, Race Secretary, Chief of Course, Chief of Timing, Race Chair, and Chief of Gates.
The Volunteer category is for the rest of the race volunteers including gate judges, course workers, start and finish timers/records, Start and Finish Referees, etc.
For this event, it's recommended that everyone register through http://saskgames.ca/dyna/athletes.php in the appropriate category. They Games organizers would like this done prior to January 7th, so the sooner you can do it the less stressed out they'll be! The Race Organizing Committe will then pull those names off the Sask Games registration file to be used for volunteer position assignments.
The major and minor officials roles are also defined in the alpine sport technical package (referenced in the documents section of this web site page). |

The following are the Saskatchewan Winter Games district qualifiers based on the results from the January 16-17 qualifier event at Table Mountain. Note that the athletes highlighted in yellow are subject to the fill policy (details at ) and will not have their results count towards the district's flag points calculations.
