Sask Cup Points Calculations 2009/2010
During the course of this season there has been discussion on the Sask Alpine web site coaches' forums on which races should be used for the calculations. Based on those discussions, the following implementation is in effect for the 2009/2010 season.
Non-E2 points are awarded for each of the following Sask Cup Races: Table Mountain Slalom x 2, Assessippi Slalom x 1 and Giant Slalom x 1; Mission Ridge Final Slalom x 2. Also, the Sask Winter Games race starts will be included in the non-E2 calculations: Mission Ridge Slalom x 2.
Race starts for E2 will include the following Sask Cup Races: Table Mountain Slalom x 2, Mission Ridge Final Slalom x 2.
Age category groups are:
- J2 Men, J2 Women (ages 17-19),
- J1 Men, J1 Women (ages 15-16),
- K2 Men, K2 Women (ages 13-14),
- K1 Men, K1 Women (ages 11-12),
- E2 Men, E2 Women (ages 9 -10).
All races will have Sask Alpine awards provided in each age category with medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place and ribbons provided for 4th through 10th place for E2 and K1, and 4th through 5th for K2 and older.
For each of the eligible races, points are awarded to each group and gender based on their result: 1st-25, 2nd-20, 3rd-15, 4th-12, 5th-11.
Sask Cup Club Award
An annual plaque is presented to the club obtaining the highest number of points. This number is determined by totaling the number of points each athlete in the club received from all the eligible races. For this year, to make obtaining the plaque more achievable for smaller clubs, points will only be given for 1st through 5th place. Also, J1 and J2 categories will be combined for determining club calculations.
Sask Cup Overall Awards
Each year at the banquet held in conjunction with the Provincial Final Races awards are presented to athletes who have excelled within their group.
First, second and third place awards are presented to each of the groups E2 through J2. For all categories but E2, each athlete's final score for the individual overall awards is determined by totaling their highest 6 points from the 8 races. For E2 category, the best 3 of 4 results are counted. Note that all race starts are counted in this eligibility quota - even if they result in a Did Not Finish or Disqualification.
