A few questions have come up regarding insurance coverage particularly the van insurance. Here are a few points that may clear things up.
1. On the Sask Alpine van, we have $5,000,000 in 3rd pary liability coverage.
2. The only policy rules on the van are that we can only carry as many passengers as there are working seat belts for. That is, if only 11 of the 15 work, we can only carry 11 people. The only drivers of the van are those that are approved with SGI. I have a list that was submitted to the insurance company and included on the list are the coaches, athlete parents and Sask Alpine executive members. Those are the only people that can drive the van. If you want to know if you are on the list, please contact me directly, not through this forum. SGI has not set any other guidelines on operating a 15 passenger van.
3. Insurance coverage at training camps etc, is third party liability insurance. The athletes, coaches and chaperones are covered as long as I have an up to date calendar. All of the athletes, coaches, chaperones, volunteers must have completed the Alpine Canada membership form and belong to a club. The liability insurance will not cover those that are not club members.
I hope that answers some questions. If you have any others, please let me know.
