To all Alpine Saskatchewan prim club coaches: distribute within your ranks.

The CSCF web site had general information about obtaining CSCF credits to maintain license currency by working Race Organizing Committee positions. However the eligible positions was not clearly stated.

Through a request to CSCF to clarify this, I have received the following from Peter Goodman at CSCF. These opportunities provide an accessible means to gain the necessary credits within our events in Saskatchewan.

Terry,

Here are some guidelines for using participation on a ROC for licensing credit. This was not formalized in the past but your questions are good ones so we will formalize this for now and the future.

Participation on a Race Organizing Committee - Licensing Credit

By actively participating on a race organizing committee (ROC), coaches will gain an appreciation for the complexity and scope of hosting race events. They will get a feel, from the inside, for the amount of work and commitment it takes to run an efficient and high quality competition with volunteer resources.

Having worked on an organizing committee, coaches may be better equipped and knowledgeable to assist volunteer organizing committees in making each race the best possible competition opportunity for their athletes.

ROC Positions: the following ROC position qualify to satisfy this requirement:

. chief of race or race chair
. chief of course
. technical delegate
. start referee or assistant start referee
. finish referee
. chief of gate judges
. race secretary
. chief of timing
. timer
. leader or member of an "equipe volante"
. gate keeper
. member of a safety and netting installation crew

Positions that do NOT qualify are:

. side slip team
. course setter or helper (this is part of the coach's job as coach)
. referee on the race jury (this is part of the coach's job as coach)
. grooming crew
. PA announcer

Licensing Credits: 4 Education credits and 1 Risk Management credit will be credited for a minimum of two (2) FULL days of a multi-day event to the job function on the ROC. Partial credit is available for one (1) full day participation on an ROC of 2 ED credits only.

Race context: ROC participation must be at a K1 race or higher to qualify of licensing credit.

Sign off: a person in authority at the race (chief of race, club head coach, club alpine chair, club official's chair) at the host club or the PSO must sign off (post licensing event in on line management system) indicating that the coach has actively participated on a race organizing committee at a K1 level or higher.

**********************************************************

Hope this helps ... Peter G.=
