After sorting out some Alpine Canada registration issues, the official race results are now compiled and posted for the SaskTel SaskCup Marmot Basin GS on January 2nd and 3rd, 2009. Please view the

www.saskalpine.com SaskCup web site page to access these results.http://www.saskalpine.com/Discussions/tabid/79/afv/topicsview/aff/30/Default.aspx

On behalf of the Race Organizing Committee I would like to thank all the teams' athletes and coaches that participated in this year's race. It was a challenging event given that it was at an unfamiliar location, we had far less athletes (and corresponding volunteers) involved, and the logistics of the hill were significantly different than we are used to (i.e. off-hill accommodations, race run away from bottom of hill, separation of race office from registration from, etc).

Without everyone's volunteer contributions we would not have been able to carry out this race. In particular, there were several key ROC members that stepped up, put significant time in, and excelled at their roles; Janine Fauchon - race secretary, Michelle Rezansoff - race chair, Brent Waldo - chief of course, Chris Hahn - assistant chief of course, Brad Haid - chief of timing. I know there were many others that put a full day of work in for the training and race days as well - and heard there were several that incurred frozen body parts while doing this. To that end, I would like to thank all clubs that participated and provided an 'all hands on deck' quota of volunteers.

I also would like to thank the Marmot Basin ski area and its personnel (in particular Brian aka Romeo1) and the local Technical Delegate - Chuck Cantlie. Their involvement, flexibility, and hard work were crucial to this event taking place and being the success that it was.

Finally, a big thanks goes to our Alpine Saskatchewan sponsors whose support allows our organization to hold these events. SaskTel is our new SaskCup race series sponsor whose support provides the funding we need for this race series. The other key sponsor for the race series events is Ronald Communications - who supply the radios used for the race communications.

Although we have barely left the race venue, we are already planning for next year's event. If you have any comments that would help us to improve the event, please do not hesitate to pass them along. The best way is to visit the Sask Alpine web site and post your comment in the Marmot Basin GS race public forum at the following browser location so everyone can view and respond:
