I've volunteered as chaperone for the Canmore/Golden/Panorama trip running from Saturday Dec 29 - Monday, January 1 at Panorama.

I'll want to know who is coming or not, and confirm when they may be transferred off our hands (see Gavin's email compilation below).

Gavin/Isla: Are the accommodations already booked for Canmore and Golden?

For accommodations for myself, I'd like to add Marlene and our daughter Jessica because they will be coming out at the same time as myself and Sean so we can all go to Panorama afterwards. If the accommodation bookings can take that into account that would be great. If I should be doing this myself instead, let me know. I'll also likely be bringing our SUV out for this trip since I'll need to tow the SaskAlpine trailer from Regina to Panorama for the race.

Here's a compilation from a couple of Gavin's emails about this trip to set some context for responding:

Subject: Xmas/new years

Hi all,

I have reservations in Canmore for all the camps up to and including the xmas camp. I am aware that a few of you are planning on going to Golden/Kicking Horse for new years.

I need to know who has their own rooms booked for Golden so that I can find rooms for the rest of the team. I would like for everyone to train the morning of December 31st and then head to Golden.

Cheers,
Gavin

Subject: New Years

Good morning,

January 1st is a day off. For those of you that have plans, go ahead with them. The kids are yours on Dec. 31st at noon. For the kids that won't have parents with us and are travelling with me and Alex, we are going to head to Golden for New Years eve. I plan on skiing at Kicking Horse on New Years day for half a day and then heading to Pano in the afternoon.

I will try and find a place to stay in Golden today so I need to know who is travelling with us so that I can book something.

From what I understand, Lauren, Katie and Taylor will be with their families.

That leaves, Eden, Mariah, Martin, Sean, Tyson, Tanner, and Jaden with Alex and myself.

Please let me know ASAP if their are any changes.

Gavin

As a reminder, you will want to ensure you get the Snowmax cards for Panorama before the deadline of December 26. The Developmental program does not cover the costs of lift tickets for the Panorama training and race days, so there's good cost savings for the youth lift tickets. The Snowmax web site address is http://www.snowmax.ca/ (clic on the card graphic to access the rules and details on the card).

For those going to Golden on the 31st, you'll note that the card is good for Kicking Horse, too, and can be used to knock $15 off the lift price while there. I double-checked this with a representative, because the way the rules read it sounded like you could only have the $15 discount after the four free days were used up.

Also, I talked to the Kicking Horse rep and they said if you order online you can pick it up at guest services at either Kicking Horse or Panorama. This is contrary to the details that say you need to phone if you'll be skiing at Kicking Horse first.

Here's the plan to date. Isla: Please confirm accommodation locations and contact info for both Canmore and Golden.

Canmore Dec 29: Lauren, Katie, Eden, Mariah, Martin, Sean, Taylor (and Tyson, Tanner, and Jaden) with Alex and Gavin in the SaskAlpine van along with the Primrose trailer. I'll be bringing my vehicle with the SaskAlpine trailer along with Marlene and Jessica.

Dec 31: Eden, Lauren, Katie, Martin and Taylor will be picked up at noon - rest of team continues to Golden in two vehicles.

Jan 1: Team drives from Golden to Panorama. All team members to stay with families in Panorama.

Can someone in Saskatoon take care of getting the SaskAlpine van hooked up to the Primrose trailer on Friday the 28th at the latest? Gavin and Alex won't be there this week and will be coming back late Friday night. The trailer will be needed on the van for transporting all the kids with Alex and Gavin on the Saturday morning. Alex was going to drop the SaskAlpine van key off with someone so this could get done.

Here's the contact info for the trailer to coordinate it with them.

Clarence or Ryan Hagel (son of Harold) Ryan. You can contact him in Saskatoon @ 306 933-2055. The trailer is located at 3210 Miller next to Windsor Plywood. We can leave it stored there when not using, just call to arrange to meet.

One more note for those kids coming to Golden for the 31st. Have them bring a flashlight for a special event we have planned that evening. One that can mount on their body somewhere would be best! Don't tell them any more than that since I want to make this a surprise...

Final touchups on the plans for this trip.

Travel Out: The Hoopers will drive Sean and Mariah (along with Terry, Marlene and Jessica) from Regina direct to Canmore on Saturday morning with a stopover in Calgary to pick up Eden. We will be towing the Sask Alpine trailer. Everyone else to meet at the Travelodge at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec 29. The Byers will be bringing the Sask Alpine van with the Primrose trailer attached.

Accommodation: The team will be staying at Canmore Inn and Suites for Dec. 29 and 30. The phone # is 403 - 205 -  2500.  Any of the kids that are going to Kicking Horse with Terry or Gavin will be staying  at the Mountaineer Lodge at the resort. The contact phone # is 250 - 439 - 1160.

At Canmore there will be Lauren, Katie, Eden, Mariah, Martin, Sean, Taylor (and Tyson, Tanner, and Jaden) with Alex and Gavin.

Dec 31: Eden, Lauren, Katie, Martin and Taylor will be picked up at noon - location To Be Determined. Rest of team continues to Kicking Horse in two vehicles. Remember to have all kids that will be at Kicking Horse to bring flashlights.

Jan 1: Team drives from Golden to Panorama in the afternoon. All team members to stay with families in Panorama. I'd appreciate knowing where and when the team members' parents will be at Panorama.

We'll pick Martin up on the 31st and then go to Panarama. We are staying in the Springs from the 31st to the 6th of January.
